3-Way Calling Basics

What’s better than a person to person call? A 3 person call. Vonage offers you the ability to connect to 2 other people at the same time! We’ll show you how.

What is 3-Way Calling?

With Vonage 3-Way Calling, you can add a third caller to a two-way conversation, so the three of you can talk at once. There is no additional cost for 3-Way Calling if you are calling to anyone within the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

How do I use 3-Way Calling?

To use 3-Way Calling on my Vonage Phone Adapter:
  1. Dial your first party.
  2. Once you are connected to your first party, press the Flash Button or Switch Hook on your phone.
  3. Dial the second party. After the second party has picked up, press Flash Button or Switch Hook to connect to both parties.
To use 3-Way Calling on my UTStarcom F1000 WiFi:
  1. Dial your first party.
  2. Once you are connected to your first party, press the Option button on your phone.
  3. Select the New call option. Dial the second Party and press OK.
  4. Press the option button on your phone. Select the Conference option to connect to both parties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make international calls with 3-Way Calling?
Yes, you can dial internationally with 3-Way Calling. If you are calling internationally, your call will be billed per minute based on that country’s rate, there is no extra fee for making the 3-Way call.
How will a Vonage 3-Way Call show on my Call History?
Vonage 3-Way Calling is making two calls at one time. For billing purposes we treat a 3-Way Call as two separate calls that happen at the same time.
Does a Vonage 3-Way Call affect my bandwidth?
Because a Vonage 3-Way Call is two calls at one time, it requires enough bandwidth for two calls simultaneously, a maximum bandwidth of 180 Kbps. If your Vonage 3-Way Calls are not successful, please adjust your Bandwidth Saver.
